Nine dead, some injured in India Massive Land Slide
It was reported on Sunday that a massive landslide in the district of Himachal Pradesh, India, killed nine persons and injured at least three persons.
A video footage provided to Crave TV, showed large rocks crashing down a valley onto a bridge, known as the Batseri bridge, causing it collapse and the destruction of parked vehicles around the affected area.
Persons who were affected, were said to have visited the popular tourist location, a village named Chitkul.
According to India Today, eight tourists died on the spot, while the ninth succumbed on the way to the hospital.
"It is heart wrenching", said the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, in person of Jairam Thakur.
He announced certain amount that would be given to the families of those whose lives were lost in the accident.
The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi also sent his condolence to the bereaved families. In the Prime Minister's office tweet, it was announced that arrangements were made for those who were injured in the accident. "I wish them a speedy recovery", he said.
As the country experiences it Monsoon season which usually last from June to September each year, there have been heavy rainfall, leading to some part of India to experience flooding and landslides.
Although, it has not been confirmed what lead to the incident, but it was discovered that there have been warnings of possible landslides issued, due to the predicted heavy rainfall.
